It couldn’t have been much closer in the finals of the Staples tennis tournament as Kelsi Peterson beat Lexi Johnson 6-1, 1-6, 7-6 for the singles title in the initial year of the tournament.
In division 2, for non-varsity players, two Staples Motley players advanced to the semi-finals. Rose Han and Haylee Wold each won their first match but lost their second. Tia Dykema of Osakis won the division.
In doubles play, Johnson and Anna Willgohs reached the finals, which was rained out. The teams hope to play the final match some time this week.
