Cardinal tennis team ties, then wins over PL

The Staples-Motley girls tennis team tied for first place at the Mid State Conference tournament held Sept. 17, with a score of 39 points, the same as Pequot Lakes.

The teams faced each other again in a dual meet Sept. 19 and broke the tie with a 4-3 win.

In conference tournament play, Lexi Johnson and Claire Wolhowe won the number one doubles title 6-2, 7-5. Izabella Edin won at number one singles and Kelsi Peterson, took the number three singles title, knocking off the number one seed.

In the dual meet, the same three won their matches, as did the doubles team of Katie Benson and Kelsie Weite for the four wins needed.
