ORDINANCE NO. 522

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING 

CITY OF STAPLES CODE SECTION 5.6, ZONING ORDINANCE

NOTICE: THE FOLLOWING PUBLISHED MATERIAL IS ONLY A SUMMARY OF THE STAPLES ZONING ORDINANCE. A PRINTED COPY OF THE ENTIRE SIX PAGE ORDINANCE IS AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION BY ANY PERSON DURING REGULAR OFFICE HOURS AT THE STAPLES CITY HALL, 122 6th St NE. 

The City Council 

of the City of Staples 

does ordain as follows:

SECTION 1. Section 5.6. is hereby amended as follows:

Section 5.6.02. Subd. b. Definitions

Change definition for Accessory Use, Accessory Building or Accessory Structure and add definitions for Garage, Private, Greenhouse and Hoop house. 

Section 5.6.05. Zoning Districts and District Provisions

Subd. c. R-1 Residential 2. Permitted Uses.

Add language “Only one of the following permitted uses shall be permitted on a lot:”

3. Accessory Uses.

4. Conditional Uses.

C. Accessory building greater than 1,200 square feet.

5. Minimum Lot Requirements and Setbacks. (Principle Structure)

6. Minimum Dimension of Single Family Dwelling Units 

a. Width of twenty-four (24) feet or more

b. Minimum floor area of eight hundred (800) square feet

7. Prohibited Uses

Tarp sheds and other similar structures are prohibited.
