FOR BUS TRANSPORTATION

Notice is hereby given, that Staples-Motley Independent School District No. 2170, Staples, MN, will receive written quotations for transportation of its school children located in and around the Motley, MN area, according to the specification and conditions which may be obtained from the office of the Superintendent of Schools, Staples-Motley Schools, Independent School District No. 2170, 905 4th St. NE, Staples, Minnesota. Quotations shall be submitted in form and manner contained in the specifications and the conditions.
Quotations must be received in the office of the Superintendent no later than June 10, 2019, at 1:00 o’clock p.m. at which time the quotations will be opened and tabulated. No change can be made in the written quotation without consent of the school district. Negotiations will be conducted at such time and place as designated by the school district utilizing such procedures as the school district deems appropriate.
On July 22, 2019, at 6:00 o’clock p.m., the school board will meet to evaluate the quotations and act thereon. The school district reserves the right to accept, reject or negotiate any quotation and to make an award for transportation services which is deemed most favorable and advantageous to the school district. If further information is desired, interested persons should contact the district business office, phone 218-289-5400 x 3011.
Any person whose quotation is accepted may be required to furnish a performance bond in the full amount of its quotation, which bond shall comply with the provisions of Minnesota Statutes, Section 574.26. The amount is discretionary with the school board. M.S. 123B.52, Subd. 3.

Call to Order
The meeting was called to order with Longbella, Winkels, Frisk, Freeman, Anderson and Lund present (comprising a quorum). Also attending: Supt. Bratlie; Business Services, Herdegen; Principals Schmidt, Johnson and Regan; several staff, students and community members; Staples World Editor, Anderson; and Recording Secretary, Madson. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Motion by Longbella, seconded by Frisk, to add agenda items #28, 30.1 and 30.2 to the agenda; and to add Roy DiDiovanni to the School/ Community Forum. MC
Motion by Winkels, seconded by Longbella, to adopt the agenda as presented. MC
Recognize the Public
School/Community Forum
The Review and Comment, and the Commissioner’s response, relating to the Bond Referendum, were available for public viewing and discussion.
Mr. Bruce Drone addressed the Board with questions regarding the purchase and use of the old Twin Cities Optical building.
Mr. Roy DiGiovanni addressed the Board with concerns regarding the closing of the Motley building and the upcoming election.

Donations, Grants and In-Kind Donations
Motion by Longbella, seconded by Frisk, approve the Resolution to Accept Donations, Grants and In-Kind Donations in the amount of $800. MC

Motion by Winkels, seconded by Frisk to authorize payment of the vouchers. MC
Motion by Anderson, seconded by Freeman, to approve Schlenner Wenner & Co for the district audit services 2019-2021. MC
Motion by Winkels, seconded by Freeman to approve the contract with Apex Facility Solutions for total cost of ownership and mechanical systems commissioning; $238,000 for proposed services. MC
This would be for new construction if the bond passes. It was noted that bids are not needed for Professional Services.
Motion by Winkels, seconded by Lund to approve the increase of Stanton Grade for the Director of Transportation from Grade 15 to Grade 16; eff. July 1, 2018; increase of $11,643. MC
Note: The district will be looking at a new salary scale system for the Professional Group.

The meeting was called to order with Winkels, Frisk, Freeman, Anderson and Lund present. Longbella arrived shortly after roll call. Also attending: Supt. Bratlie; Principals Schmidt, Johnson and Regan; Building & Grounds, Peterson; Rob Brown (Nexus); Staples World Editor, Anderson and Recording Secretary, Madson.
Motion by Anderson, seconded by Winkels, to adopt the agenda. MC
BUILD 2170
Rob Brown, Nexus, presented a draft of the project schedule, assuming the referendum passes. The draft indicates the entire project could be complete by 1/1/21.
A list of responsibilities and functions of different firms will be put together (Nexus, WSN, Apex, etc.) The project could also include an “owners rep” who acts on behalf of the district - perhaps .5 day per week. The Board asked that Mr. Tappe be included in this process

If close, most likely try again next fall.
If not close, re-survey the community and determine next steps.
Regardless, we will need a 10, 15 and 20 year plan for the roofs and will need to look at funding options (bond against LTFM, lease levy, etc.).
