MINUTES
Call to Order
The meeting was called to order with Longbella, Freeman, Winkels, Lund, Frisk and Anderson present (comprising a quorum). Also attending were Supt. Bratlie; Business Manager Boesen; Principals Johnson, Schmidt and Regan; approximately 50 staff, students and community members; Staples World Manager, Halvorson; and Recording Secretary Madson. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Motion by Freeman, seconded by Lund to approve the addition of agenda items # 14a and #14b. MC
Motion by Winkels, seconded by Frisk, to adopt the agenda. MC MF
School/Community Forum
Ms. Ferdon presented an update to the board on QCOMP, explaining the positions, the stipends and the impact QCOMP has had. Next week certified staff will vote on continuing QCOMP for another year.
Consent Agenda:
Motion by Freeman, seconded by Frisk to approve the Consent Agenda as presented.
Finance Items:
Motion by Freeman, seconded by Winkels, to authorize payment of the vouchers. MC
Motion by Freeman, seconded by Lund, to approve the educational cuts as presented and forming a committee to look at additional cuts.
The motion was then amended to:
Motion by Freeman, seconded by Lund, to approve the educational reductions in the amount of $273,300. MC
Motion by Anderson, seconded by Frisk, to form a committee to explore ongoing operational efficiencies and to look at additional cuts as needed for the coming school year. MC
Motion by Frisk, seconded by Lund, to appoint Anderson and Freeman as the two Board members to sit on this committee. Supt. Bratlie will be tasked with forming the remainder of the committee.
Motion by Lund, seconded by Winkels, to approve the Staff Development credit reimbursement for Melissa Holey at $150.
Personnel
Motion by Frisk, seconded by Anderson, to accept the resignation of Craig Wolhowe, Head Girls BB coach with permission to post. MC
Thank you to Craig for his years of service and dedication to the district and the GBB program.
Motion by Lund, seconded by Winkels, to approve the one (1) year Leave of Absence Request from Alina Robinson; school year 2018-2019; with permission to post for a one (1) year position. MC
Motion by Winkels, seconded by Lund, to post for a HS Special Education Teacher. MC
Motion by Freeman, seconded by Frisk, to accept the retirement of Kathy Iverson; eff. 5-31-18. MC
Thank you to Kathy for her 30 years of service and dedication to the district and we wish her the best in retirement.
Policy
Motion by Winkels, seconded by Frisk, to accept the review of listed policies with no revisions. MC
Motion by Winkels, second by Frisk, to approve Policies #519 Interview of Students by Outside Agencies and #522 Student Sex Nondiscrimination with MSBA recommended revisions. MC
Reports

Principals’ Reports - written reports available
Superintendent Report - Widseth, Smith, Nolting has been selected for the building project and a contract will be initiated. Phase I will be up to the election date; Phase II will be renegotiated if the referendum passes.
Mr. Bratlie will be working on the project Review and Comment; will be lobbying at the Capitol with MREA the following day regarding Sped Funding, TRA, and School Safety/Mental Health.
He is also looking at marketing proposals
SMEA - staff have a meeting on Weds., and will hold their QCOMP election the following week.

BID REQUEST FOR DAIRY PRODUCTS
Sealed bids for the 2018-19 school year for dairy products will be accepted until 12:00 p.m. on June 18, 2018, in the district office of Independent School District #2170 located at 202 Pleasant Avenue NE, Staples, MN 56479 at which time bids will be opened in said office.
Proposals must be submitted in sealed envelopes with “Bid for Dairy Products” clearly marked in the lower left-hand corner of the envelope. Bids should be sent to Independent School District #2170, District Office, 202 Pleasant Avenue NE, Staples, MN 56479.
Bid specifications may be obtained by contacting the district office at the above address or by calling (218) 894-5400, ext. 3164.
Independent School District #2170 reserves the right to accept or reject, in whole or part, any bid received, and to waive all technicalities.

OF FILING FOR THE 2018 STATE GENERAL ELECTION
TODD COUNTY
Notice is hereby given that a General Election will be held in Todd County on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 for the purpose of electing candidates for the Federal, State, Judicial and County offices listed below. The filing period for the offices listed below begins at 8:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 22, 2018, and ends at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 5, 2018.
Note: Filing offices will be closed Monday, May 28, 2018, in observance of Memorial Day.
The place of filing for Federal Offices is the Office of the Secretary of State, State Office Building, Room 180, 100 Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., St. Paul, MN 55155-1299.
The place of filing for State Offices is with the Office of the Secretary of State or with the County Auditor of the County in which the candidate resides.
The filing place for County Offices is with the County Auditor.
Candidates may file in person or by mail, if the filing is received during the filing period. Candidates who will be absent from the state during the filing period and meet the requirements of Minnesota Statutes section 204B.09, subdivision 1a, may arrange to file during the seven days immediately preceding the candidate’s absence from the state.
