MORAN TOWNSHIP Important Information Regarding Property Assessments

This may affect your 2023 property taxes. 

 

The Board of Appeal and Equalization for Moran Township will meet on April 11, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the town hall. The purpose of this meeting is to determine whether property in the jurisdiction has been properly valued and classified by the assessor. 

If you believe the value or classification of your property is incorrect, please contact your assessor’s office to discuss your concerns. If you disagree with the valuation or classification after discussing it with your assessor, you may appear before the Local Board of Appeal and Equalization. VILLARD TOWNSHIP BOARD OF APPEAL AND EQUALIZATION

 

The Board of Appeal and Equalization for Villard Township will meet on April 18, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the Villard Town Hall in Philbrook. The purpose of this meeting is to determine whether property in the jurisdiction has been properly valued and classified by the assessor.

If you believe the value or classification of your property is incorrect, please contact your assessor’s office to discuss your concerns. If you disagree with the valuation or classification after discussing it with your assessor, you may appear before the Local Board of Appeal and Equalization. The board will review your assessments and make corrections as needed. Generally, you must appeal to the local board before appealing to the County Board of Appeal and Equalization.

PUBLIC HEARING

 

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING REGARDING POTENTIAL SCHOOLHOUSE CLOSURE OF STAPLES-MOTLEY EARLY EDUCATION CENTER (FORMERLY KNOWN AS THE MOTLEY STAPLES MIDDLE SCHOOL AND MOTLEY ELEMENTARY) LOCATED IN MOTLEY, MINNESOTA. 

On April 11, 2022, at 6:00 p.m., in the District Office located at 905 4th Street NE, Staples, Minnesota, a public hearing will be held regarding the potential closure of the Staples-Motley Early Education Center (formerly known as Motley Staples Middle School and Motley Elementary) schoolhouse located at 132 1st Avenue South, Motley, Minnesota. The summary legal description for the property where the Staples-Motley Early Education Center (formerly known as Motley Staples Middle School and Motley Elementary) schoolhouse is located at: 

Lots One (1) through Twelve (12), Block Thirteen (13), 1st Addition to the City of Motley, Morrison County, Minnesota.

Superintendent Tappe will present information regarding the necessity and practicability of the proposed closing, and the public will be given time to provide input prior to a decision being made by the Board of Education. 

In summary, the reasons for the recommended closing are:

a. The District will achieve substantial cost savings of approximately $512,888.00 to offset decreased funding due to declining enrollment by closing the Staples-Motley Early Education Center (formerly known as Motley Staples Middle School and Motley Elementary) schoolhouse. 

b. The remaining schoolhouses within the District have sufficient space to accommodate the needs of the District and the Staples-Motley Early Education Center (formerly known as Motley Staples Middle School and Motley Elementary) site is not needed for District educational purposes.

c. Enrollment has declined by nearly 165 students since the 2018-2019 school year.

d. The Staples-Motley Early Education Center (formerly known as Motley Staples Middle School and Motley Elementary) schoolhouse is in need of significant repairs, at substantial cost, in order to continue to be safely utilized. 

e. The costs involved in continuing to operate the Staples-Motley Early Education Center (formerly known as Motley Staples Middle School and Motley Elementary) are outweighed by the cost savings involved in closing the schoolhouse due to declining enrollment and facility needs.
