Amendment of Section 10.4 to the Staples City Code - Tobacco and Related Devices and Products.
NOTICE: THE FOLLOWING PUBLISHED MATERIAL IS ONLY A SUMMARY OF SECTION 10.4 TO THE STAPLES CITY CODE. A PRINTED COPY OF THE ENTIRE 9 PAGE ORDINANCE IS AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION BY ANY PERSON DURING REGULAR OFFICE HOURS AT THE STAPLES CITY HALL.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF STAPLES DOES ORDAIN:
SECTION 10.4 TOBACCO AND RELATED DEVICES AND PRODUCTS.
Section 10.4 of the Staples City Code contains 17 sub-sections. The purpose of the ordinance is to identify those standards used to regulate the sale, possession, and use of tobacco, tobacco related devices, electronic delivery devices, and nicotine or lobelia delivery products for the purpose of enforcing and furthering existing laws, to protect minors against the serious effects associated with the illegal use of tobacco, tobacco related devices, electronic delivery devices, or nicotine or lobelia delivery products, and to further the official public policy of the State of Minnesota in regard to preventing young people from starting to smoke as stated in Minn. Stat. § 144.391.
The Ordinance sets forth the relevant definitions of terms as used throughout the Ordinance, and establishes sales, licensing and penalty requirements. Sections 1 and 2 of the Ordinance address the purpose and definitions for the Ordinance. Sections 3 through 5 address Licensing. Sections 6 through 10 address Sales requirements. Sections 11 through 14 address Violations and Penalties. Sections 15 through 17 address miscellaneous provisions of the ordinance.
EFFECTIVE DATE: This Ordinance will be in full force and effect from and after its passage and publication according to law.

FRESHWATER ED DISTRICT NO. 6004
REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS
Notice is hereby given that the Freshwater Ed District No. 6004 of Staples, MN hereby requests proposals for CTSS service for a Level IV site until 3:00 p.m. on January 29, 2018.
All proposals shall be clearly identified as a CTSS Proposal for the Freshwater Education District.

ORDINANCE NO. 514
AN ORDINANCE to vacate a north-south alley generally located north of U.S. Highway 10, between 7th and 8th St. NE.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF STAPLES DOES ORDAINS AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Staples, Todd County, Minnesota, has authorized vacation of the following described alley pursuant to Minnesota Statute Section 412.851 and the Charter:
The alley located between Lots 1-4 and Lots 9-12, Block 25, Staples Mill, according to the plat of record in the Todd County Recorder’s Office, Todd County, MN.
SECTION 2. Effective Date. The ordinance and vacation becomes effective from and after its passage and publication.

ORDINANCE NO. 516
AN ORDINANCE REGARDING THE SALE OF PROPERTY
THE CITY OF STAPLES DOES ORDAIN
AS FOLLOWS:
Sec. 1 The City of Staples is hereby empowered to sell the following real estate located in the City of Staples, County of Todd, State of Minnesota, in accordance with the sale price authorized by the City Council:
Legal Description:
Lots 9 and 10, Block 8, Forest Park Addition to Staples, City of Staples, Todd County, Minnesota. Said parcels contain 13,940 square feet, more or less, and are subject to all easements, restrictions, and reservations of record, if any.
Sec. 2 The net proceeds from the sale shall be used pursuant to Section 11.05 of the Staples City Charter.
Sec. 3 This ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage and publication in accordance with law.
