June Fest and Fair bringing fun to Motley
Fifteen to twenty people have been meeting since February planning June Fest hoping to enhance the Motley Fair experience this year. This group of determined retiree’s, business people, representatives of various Motley organizations wanting to create a destination every June for families, Motley School alumni, music lovers, to visit our small town and to put this event on their vacation schedule each year.
Saturday, June 18, at 10 a.m. will kick off with a parade of great floats, classic cars, tractors, bands, emergency vehicles and a lot of fun things for everyone. The parade route will follow a long 3rd and 4th Streets starting near the south area of the industrial park.
The Wings Competition teams will be preparing their delicious wings for sampling from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Music on stage after the parade will feature; Rampage, the U.S. Army band, Tami & the Bachelor, along with a Motley Sings contest providing enough contestants register.
Vendors will be located in various areas of the downtown including a beer garden and Farmers Market. The Motley Fire Department will be serving brats, Ten-Hi will have hamburgers, Grandpa’s Kettle Corn, a long with other food will be available.
October Son will be providing the music for the street dance in downtown, sponsored by Ten-Hi. Fireworks will start around 10 p.m. they will be shooting them from north of the Motley School. The grandstands at the Motley Fairgrounds is a suggested good place to watch them.
Gospel music’s favorite families, the Schimpps and the Timbs, will be featured in concert Sunday, June 19 at 1:30 p.m. at the Veteran’s Park. In case of inclement weather the concert will be moved inside to the Motley School.
In honor of June being Dairy Month, an ice cream social will be held after the concert in Veteran’s Park.
