Yvonne Sampson

Yvonne Sampson, 85, of Leader, passed away December 4, 2024.

She was born December 22, 1938 to Herman and Elizabeth (Baumgarter) Scheid.

Yvonne was a caring wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who knew when to be stern and when to be sweet; years of practice. She was practical, frugal and was a small-town girl not afraid to step into anywhere. Hers was a tough, but endless love. She was always there to lend a hand (however, it may come with an opinion). A talented cook and baker, Yvonne was known for her delicious lefse and homemade jelly, always made with love.

Yvonne also had her share of favorite pastimes. She never missed the excitement of Black Friday shopping and was always ready for a good meal of Chinese food (her favorite). She enjoyed sitting on the deck,  sharing long conversations, playing cards with friends and family, or searching for treasures at garage sales. Yvonne had a kind soul and was a warm neighbor and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. 

Yvonne is survived by two sons, Gary (Nancy) Sampson and Robert (Lorri) Sampson, both of Motley; one daughter, Debra (Brian) Haataja of Wolf Lake; one daughter-in-law, Gina Sampson of Stacy; 16 grandchildren, Tristan Sampson, Tianna Sampson, Nicolas Sampson, Isabella Sampson, Nakota Sampson, Brittany (Patrick) Trettle, Nathaniel Sampson, Ann (Kevin) Ruotsala, Valerie (Alan) Estola, Corinne (Matthew) Carrier, Patricia (Scott) Pfeifer, Joy (Daniel) Boulos, Charles Haataja, Crystal Haataja, Cameron (Mirella) Sampson and Sydnie Sampson; 19 great-grandchildren, Case, Wyatt, Henry and Evelyn Ruotsala, Willow, Oaklyn, Brielle, Olive and Eleanor Estola, Klaira, Elena, Stella Carrier, Zane and Laila Pfefer, Samantha, Harley and Lucy Trettle, Jonathan Sampson and Lonan Jeffrey Sampson; four sisters, Linda Johnson and Jeannie Johannes, both of Leader, Joan (Ray) Dailey, of Verndale and Marlys (Jeff) Braith of Staples.

Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gordon Sampson; one  son, Jeffrey Sampson; three sisters, Helma McCoy, Vivian Youngberg and Joyce Jackson and one brother, Kenny Scheid.

Arrangements were by the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Staples.
