Vera Doroff

Vera Zona Doroff, 91, of Cushing, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on October 16, 2025, at her home in Cushing.

A private family burial will be held. 

Vera was born September 23, 1934, to Hans and Marie (Hahn) Kronbeck in Little Falls. She attended Rural School District #121 and graduated from Little Falls High School with the Class of 1952.

In 1954, Vera married the love of her life, James Doroff. Together they raised five children and built a life centered on family, faith and community.

Vera worked as a receptionist at Stillwater Medical Center, a position she deeply cherished. Her warmth and kindness made a lasting impression on all who met her. She was an active member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Motley, where she belonged to St. Monica’s Circle. She was also involved in the Staples Lioness Club, Christian Women’s Organization and the Scandia Valley Red Hat Club.

Vera loved reading, sewing and spending time with her family at their home on Lake Alexander - her favorite place to relax and make memories with those she loved most.

Vera is survived by five children, Elizabeth (Randy) Mittag of River Falls, WI; Susan (Michael) Schmidt of Somerset, WI; Michael of Minneapolis; David (Therese) of East Farmington, WI and Thomas of Broomfield, CO; one brother, Ivar (Kathy) Kronbeck of Big Lake; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James (2015); six sisters, Inez Kronbeck, Lola Coulter, Addie Kretzman, Neva Abrahamson, Joyce Kronbeck and Gloria Dungan; three brothers, Russell, Wayne and Alan; one granddaughter, Irene and one great-grandson, Trenton.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to her caregivers, as well as her niece - and her new best friend, Jane Mackey, for their care and companionship.
