Venetta Thomson
Venetta Thomson, 95, of Dayton and formerly of Motley, passed away March 26, 2017, at her daughter’s home in Dayton.
Services will be held at Saturday, April 1, at 11 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Motley, with Father Joe Korf officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. prior to services at the church.
Interment will be at Motley Public Cemetery.
Arrangements are with the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples.
Venetta Emma Thomson was born July 2, 1921 to Charles and Ann (Stish) Obitz in Browerville. She graduated from Browerville School. Venetta married George Thomson of Motley on January 12, 1941 and they moved to Austin. Venetta was employed at Hormel Meat Co. for 32 years. She enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards with her family. Venetta was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and the circle at St. Ann’s.
Venetta is survived by two sons, Dennis (Michele) of Motley and Alan of Inver Grove Heights; two daughters, Karen of New Prague and Ann (Mike) Buckley of Dayton; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one brother, Ed and four sisters, Sylvia Plotnik, Bernice Johnson, Geneva Stepaniak and Eileen Steinmetz.
