Robert Unruh
Robert Unruh, 85, of Motley, formerly of Fargo, ND, Jamestown, ND and Colorado Springs, CO, died April 13, 2017 while in hospice care at Harmony House in Motley.
A celebration of his life will be held May 8, at 10:30 a.m. at the Haut Funeral Home, 1101 5th Avenue NE in Jamestown.
Burial will be in the Gackle Cemetery.
The Haut Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Robert was born July 18, 1931, to Christian and Christine (Schilling) Unruh, in Wishek, ND, where he grew up on the family’s farm. He served in the U.S. Army with the 10th Mountain Division at Camp Carson and Camp Hale in Colorado. He married Esther Veil when he returned to North Dakota after serving in the Korean War. Robert was an auto body technician, sang in his church choir and volunteered with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. He was a former member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and Atonement Lutheran Church in Jamestown and Prince of Peach Lutheran Church in Colorado Springs.
Robert is survived by two sons, Mark (Cyndi) Unruh of Motley and Marty Unruh of Colorado Springs; two daughters, Marsha Unruh (McNeil) of Colorado Springs and Marla (Tim) Smith of Rockford, IL; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ida Wanner, Kathy Melarvie and Barbara Nola and four brothers, Bill, Harvey, Dwayne and Ronnie Unruh.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years; parents; four brothers, Art, Gene, Grant and Dan; two sisters, Esther Aipperspach and Edna Feagan and son-in-law, Lewis McNeil
