Robert Lorentz
Robert T. Lorentz, 84, of Willmar died October 26, 2017, at the Bethesda Grand Club Suites.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Oct. 31, at the Church of St. Mary in Willmar.
Interment was held in the church cemetery with military honors provided by the Willmar American Legion Post #167.
Arrangements were with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar.
Robert Theodore Lorentz was born, April 22, 1933, in Staples to William and Catherine (Kern) Lorentz. He grew up in Staples and graduated from Staples High School in 1951. Robert enlisted into the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. On December 29, 1956, he married Darlene Marie Beurge and they made their home in Eveleth where he was employed in the iron mines, working for U.S. Steel. In 1985, he retired and moved to Willmar, where the couple owned and operated the Viking Motel. Robert was a member of the Church of St. Mary, the Knights of Columbus, V.F.W. and American Legion Posts. His hobbies included hunting and being outdoors.
He is survived by three sons, Douglas (Deborah) Lorentz of St. Louis, MO., Mark Lorentz of Willmar and William Lorentz of Minneapolis; three daughters, Trayce Packa of Willmar, Catherine (Garry) Barnett of Chugiak, AK., and Jessica Lorentz, St. Louis Park; seven grandchildren; six sisters, Kaye (Mark) Knowlton of Seattle, WA., Francis Donlin of St. Cloud, Mary Volesky of Staples, Theresa Lorentz of Portland, OR., Dorothy Spiering of St. Cloud and Agatha Lorentz of Rochester, two brothers; Richard (Jan) Lorentz of Motley, and William (Sally) of St. Joseph; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, and one sister, Loretta.
