Richard Auger

Richard Auger, 82, passed away July 1, 2022, with his wife, Sharon and children, Mike, Lori and Tom by his side.

Funeral services were held July 7 at the Lincoln Evangelical Free Church, Cushing.

Burial was at the Scandia Valley Cemetery.

Dick was born March 24, 1940 in Minneapolis to Les and Helen (Dickison) Auger.

Dick had a deep love for family. He and his wife, Sharon, would have celebrated their 61st anniversary on August 19, 2022. They started their family while living in North Minneapolis and moved to Brooklyn Center.  They decided to purchase what was Hought’s Resort in 1974 and moved permanently to Motley in 1976. He spent the first two years at the resort driving for UPS, Monday through Friday and coming up to the resort on weekends. In 1976, Dick and his family moved to Motley. He worked full time operating the resort and this spring started his 49th year there.

Dick had a love for the outdoors and had many fishing and hunting trips with his friends. His love of the lake brought him to Lake Shamineau where his family vacationed at the resort which eventually was owned and operated by Dick and his family.

He will be sorely missed by his family, friends and the many guests at the resort that became like family over the years. He will forever be in our hearts.

Dick is survived by his wife, Sharon, of 60 wonderful years; two sons, Mike (Elaine) and Tom (Diane); one daughter, Lori Dahlman; six grandchildren, Krista (Isaac), Tayler (Alex), Seth (Maggie), Megan (Joel), Haley (Logan) and Arianna; three great-grandchildren, Oliver and Margot Kinsley and Micah Auger; in-laws Mary Ann Peterson, Jack and Jeanne Wilkes and John Halsey along with many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Jan Israelson and Judy Waterman; in-laws Gordy Israelson, Larry Waterman, Bernie Peterson, Tom Halsey and Mike Halsey.

Arrangements were by the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Staples.
