Mary Carlson
Mary M. Carlson, 72, of Staples, passed away November 28, 2021, in Staples.
Funeral services were held December 3 at the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Staples.
Interment was at Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples.
Mary was born June 17, 1949, to John and Margaret (Drew) Kiel at St. Mary’s Hospital in St. Paul. She met the love of her life, James, in 1963 and they were united in marriage on November 19, 1966 in Motley. Mary and James then traveled to Fort Hood, Texas where they resided for the duration of James’ enlistment in the U.S. Army. They moved to Staples where they started the family and made their home. The couple had two daughters, Dawn and Michelle. Mary owned and operated Tenderheart Day Care for many years. She enjoyed many outdoor activities with her husband and children. When she became a grandmother, her world revolved around being the best grandmother she could be. She became a Nana for her great-grandchildren and found her greatest joy.
Mary is survived by James, her husband of 55 years; seven grandchildren, Mike (Channa) Dumpprope, Spencer (Natasha) Dumpprope, Joshua (Kayla) Dumpprope, Brandon (Paige) Carlson, Dustin (Kandas) Thompson, Parker Thompson and Hailey Thompson; two sisters, Renee (Lee) Olmschenk and Debbie (Al) Hines; one brother, Bob (Sandy) Keil; 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved daughters, Dawn and Michelle; one brother, Butch and nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were with the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Staples.
