Marvin Feakes

Marvin W. Feakes, 84, of Motley, passed away January 3, 2023, at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, with his family by his side. 

Visitation will be held Fri., January 20 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel in Staples, with prayers starting at 6 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Sat., January 21 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Motley, with visitation one hour prior to services at the church. 

Interment will follow at Motley Public Cemetery. 

Marvin was born July 12, 1938 to Bert and Jensine (Pedersen) Feakes in Northport, Washington. He was united in marriage to Janet Lorber on May 7, 1960, in Motley. Marvin worked for Northwestern Bell in Williston and Fessenden, North Dakota. He was involved with the Fessenden Fire Dept. and the Fessenden Ambulance Squad. He then became a regional manager and Marv and Jan moved their family to Harvey, ND. Marvin was involved in the VFW, Eagles and Knights of Columbus originations, along with the Harvey Fire Department and Ambulance. He retired from Ma Bell in 1986 and started farming with his son, Dave. Marv and Jan moved back to Motley in 1995.

Marvin enjoyed fishing and trips to Canada. He loved horses and was known as the neighborhood “fix it guy.” He will be missed by everyone who knew him.

Marvin is survived by four sons, Marvin, Jr. of Watford City, ND, Dave (Patty) of Fessenden, ND, Michael (Amy) of Rochester and Paul of Dallas, Texas; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one brother, Bert, Jr. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one son, John; one brother, Bill and his mother and father-in-law, Earl and Alice Lorber. 

Arrangements are by the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Staples.
