Marjorie Miller
Marjorie A. Miller, 98, of Atkins, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 11, 2024, at The Gardens of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 20, at Teahen’s Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, with Pastor Brandon Levering officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Marjorie (Margie) was born July 9, 1925 to Clarence and Anna (Reichel) Olson in Wyoming, She married Eldon Miller on Feb. 12, 1945, in Verndale. Eldon and Margie had a Grade A dairy farm in Staples. In May 1967 they moved to Hallock; Jan. 1968 they moved to Tracy; August 1968 they moved to Tipton, Iowa; 1969 they moved to an acreage outside of Tipton and in December 1999, they moved to Atkins, Iowa.
Margie and Eldon had their own band, The Millers, for many years. Margie played the accordion and piano and Eldon played the violin. They belonged to a card club for many years. She enjoyed gardening, doing farmer’s market and entered the Tipton fair many times, with her jams, jellies, crafts and sewing winning many ribbons. She crocheted many beautiful doilies for family and friends. She was a great cook and loved cooking for her family and others.
Margie loved her family dearly and was a wonderful mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
Survivors include four sons, Rodney Miller, Buena Park, Calif., Russell (Judy) Miller, Marion, Roger (Lily) Miller, North Liberty and Roy Miller, Dominican Republic; five daughters, Janice (Frank) Wagner, Atkins, Joan (Richard) Corum, Lisbon, Jennel (Eldred) Schulte, Fairfax, Joyce Miller, Cedar Rapids and Jean (Brian) Stallman, Fairfax; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Preceding Margie in death were her husband of 70 years; parents; father- and mother-in-law, Harry and Mamie Miller; stepmother-in-law, Ann Miller; one sister, Irene Olson; one brother, James Olson; in-laws Daneen Olson, Arlene and Wayne Conley, Derald and Juanita Miller, Carroll and Donna Miller, Shirley and Willard Redemske, Harold Falk, Wally Thompson and Blayne and Helen Miller.
The family wants to thank The Gardens of Cedar Rapids for all the kindness you showed in caring for our sweet Mother with love and words of encouragement.
