Marilyn Hall

Marilyn Maxine Hall, 93, of Motley and formerly of Staples, passed away peacefully July 12, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. 

Funeral services were held July 20 at Faith Lutheran Church, Staples.

Marilyn was born May 19, 1933, to Ernest and Edna (Lawrence) Gibbs in Greely, Iowa. She grew up with strong family values that remained the foundation of her life.

Marilyn married the love of her life, Lawrence Hall on April 5, 1950. Together they built a loving home and shared many years of marriage while raising their family.

Marilyn was a dedicated and hardworking woman. She spent 15 years working at Ernie’s grocery store in Staples and more than 10 years at Williams Floral, Staples, where she was known for her friendly smile and strong work ethic. 

Marilyn found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved putting together puzzles, baking cakes and cookies for those she loved, dancing and crocheting beautiful handmade items. She was a proud member of the Motley Garden Club for several years, where she enjoyed sharing her love of flowers, gardening and friendship. She will be remembered for her warm heart, generous spirit and the love she shared with everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Family was the center of Marilyn’s life. She is lovingly survived by two sons, Blain Hall and Gordon (Nancy) Hall; one daughter, Sandra (Merle) Bryce; nine cherished grandchildren; many beloved great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, many extended family members and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband; one sister, Norma Prescott; one son, Bryan Hall and two grandsons, Ryan Hall and Nathan Hall.

Marilyn’s memory will live on through the lives she touched, the family she cherished and the many happy memories she created. She will be deeply missed and remembered lovingly. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, devotion and unwavering love for those who knew her.
