Lyda Cocking

Lyda J. Cocking, 86, of Staples, MN went to be with her Savior on April 19, 2024, in Staples. Funeral Services will be held on Monday Aril 29, 2024 at 11:00am at Motley Free Methodist Church. There will be a visitation held on Sunday April 28, 2024, from 4:00pm – 7:00pm at the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel in Staples, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Burial will be at the Northwood Cemetery in Hines, MN. 

Lyda was born in Funkley, MN to Axel and Myrtle (Johnson) Clausen. She attended country schools and graduated from Blackduck in 1955.

Lyda married Gordon Greenwaldt in 1956. Together they had 7 children. Later she married Wallace Cocking. 

Lyda loved working at the Mary Rondorf Home and Lakewood Care Center. She enjoyed gardening, canning, and baking. Most of all, she loved her family and Savior. 

She is survived by her children Linda Doucette, Gordy (Mary), daughter in-law Ronnie, Cheryl Hougardy, Cynthia (Dennis) Sales, Keith, and Wade (Dana), stepchildren Gary (Lori), Randy (Nancy), Mary and Dean (Shelly), and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wally, son Joel, son in law Larry, two grandchildren and one great grandson, and her seven siblings. 

Arrangements are entrusted to Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Staples.
