Larry Holmberg

Larry Holmberg, 76, of Motley, passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 24, 2024. 

A funeral service will be held Saturday, December 14, at 4 p.m. at the Motley Free Methodist Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.

Larry was born December 18, 1947, to Armin and Lyla (Schmalz) Holmberg in Springfield. He graduated from Motley High School. In 1971, he married Candi Johnsen in Sisseton, SD. Larry spent many years serving as the head custodian at Motley High School and operating his own meat cutting business. In his free time, Larry enjoyed farming, deer hunting, visiting the casino and tending to the flower gardens started by Candi. 

Larry is survived by one daughter, Dawn (Jason);  two sons, Darin and Tim (Christina); seven grandchildren, Taiya (Grant), Dalton (Emily), Emma (Trevor), Alex, Lilly, Levi and Emma; three great-grandchildren, Colter, Brynlee and Jett; two sisters, Janet and Theresa; one brother, Dean and many nieces and nephews who all loved him dearly.

Larry was preceded in death by the love of his life of 47 years, Candi and his parents.

Larry will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him. 

Arrangements are by the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Staples.
