Joseph Dubbels
Joseph P. Dubbels, 98, of Little Falls, passed away July 10, 2026 at Bridgeway Estates in Little Falls.
Funeral services were held July 17, 2026 at Zion Lutheran Church in Little Falls, with Rev. Brandon Johnson officiating.
Burial will take place at a later date in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery north of Little Falls.
Joe was born November 20, 1927, to the late Joseph and Verna Dubbels on the family farm in Cushing Township, Morrison County. He attended Lincoln Country School through grade eight and graduated from Motley High School in 1945 as Salutatorian. Joe farmed with his father until enlisting in the U.S. Army in the spring of1946. He served in Korea and was honorably discharged on September 24, 1947. He was united in marriage to Robertta Thiel in July of 1949. The couple settled on the family farm. Their marriage was blessed with two children. Joe enjoyed driving school bus and getting to know all the kids on his route, in addition to raising beef cattle and farming until his retirement. He was an active member of Saint Peter’s Lutheran Church in Randall, serving in many capacities within the congregation. Joe was a lifelong member of the Randall VFW and a past member of the Lincoln/Scandia Valley Lions Club. Joe was an avid fisherman, participating in league play and hosted many family and friends at his home and farm for deer hunting every year. He also enjoyed reading, gardening and playing cards, especially 500 and cribbage. He was a born storyteller, sharing innumerable events of his life with anyone who wanted to listen. Joe loved to travel; he frequented Florida and Alaska to visit and travel with his nephews.
Joe is survived by one daughter, Judy (John) Bentler; granddaughter, Kelly (Travis) Dorweiler; two great-grandchildren, Brianna Dorweiler and Tyler Dorweiler.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Robertta; one daughter, Diane Grothem; parents; siblings, Bernelda Holmberg, Alaire Savannah, Warren Dubbels, Monna Heinis/Jeffrey and Donna Thiel.
Joe’s family would like to thank the staff at Bridgeway in Little Falls and Horizon Health in Pierz for their excellent care.
Memorials are preferred to the MS Society.
Arrangements were by the LeMieur Funeral Home in Little Falls.
