Iras Chapin
Iras Chapin, 102, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2022. Services will be held 11:00AM on Thursday, September 29th at United Methodist Church in Motley. Visitation will start one hour prior to services. Interment will follow at Poplar Cemetery.
Iras was born on April 8, 1920, to Walter and Laura (Williams) Payne in Motley Minnesota. She married Bernard Chapin on September 18, 1941. Iras was active in her community. She was Morrison County senior citizen of the year in 1999 and received the Jefferson Award in 1999. She volunteered with the Motley food shelf and was a big part of the United Methodist Church.
Iras enjoyed crocheting, cross stitching, puzzles, reading, cooking, and baking. Above all else she loved being a mother and especially loved being a grandma. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Iras is survived by her children Shari Christiansen and Harley (Shari) Chapin; six grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and many great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Bernard; children, Ronald and Sandra; son-in-law, Arden Christiansen; grandson, Clayton Christiansen; great-great grandson, Blair Hafften; siblings, Duane Payne and Ivan Payne.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Staples.
