Henry Achermann

Henry Achermann, 85, of Mountain View, CA, passed away January 16, 2023.

Memorial Mass will be held February 16, at St. Athanasius Church, Mountain View.

He was born in Neuhausen am Rheinfall, Switzerland on February 27, 1937 to Heinrich and Berta Achermann. He was the beloved baby brother of Johannes, Peter and Verena. Henry emigrated to the U.S. in 1959 with the plan to reunite with his brother, Peter Achermann who had left Switzerland 11 years prior. After working with Peter on a pipeline in New Mexico and Texas, Henry helped get the farmhouse in Leader ready for Peter’s family to move into in December 1960. He worked at Budd and Ruth Boldan’s Leader Machine Shop (aka Budd’s Place) where he met Ardyce (Ardy) Goble (Granby). They married in Minnesota and settled in Mountain View in 1962.

Henry is survived by  four children, David Achermann (MN), Veronica (Chadd) Witham (CA), Marcus (Tanya) Achermann (CA) and Rebecca Achermann (CA); daughter-in-law, Kathy Achermann (MN); six grandchildren, Cassandra (Peter) Johnson (CA), Rebecca (Rory) Self (MN), Tristram Achermann (CA), LeAnne Witham (CA), Tasha Achermann (MN) and Tiffany Achermann (MN); one great-grandson, PJ  Johnson (CA); sisters-in-law, Delaine Achermann, Gay Swecker and Garnette Nobel (all MN); many nieces and nephews in the U.S.A. and in Switzerland and many, many friends. 

In lieu of flowers, Henry requested donations to one of his favorite charities: Tunnel-to-Towers Foundation, Wounded Warrior Project, Shriners Hospitals for Children or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The day after Henry died, his step-son, Roger Goble died in Brainerd. Roger is survived by his wife Vicki, son, Simon (Linda), daughter Amanda Fox and four grandchildren.
