Gertrud Schultenover

Gertrud (Gert) Wild Schultenover of Brooklyn Park, formerly of Staples, passed away January 9, 2018 at North Memorial Medical Center, Robbinsdale, just two days shy of her 95th birthday.

Private family services were held, as was her request.

Gertrud was born January 11, 1923, in Cologne (Koeln am Rhein) Germany, to Wilhelm and Anna Wild.

She attended the University of Cologne until it closed during World War II. She was employed as a secretary and linguist by the British Military Government and worked in the formation of the post war German government. She met her future husband in 1945, when he was working in the American Military Government after the war.Gertrud left her hometown of Cologne/Rhine, Germany in the autumn of 1947 and emigrated to the U.S. She married Harold Schultenover on October 11, 1947, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples.

Gertrud worked for Tyrrell Implement, Oldsmobile and Studebaker in Staples and for Mueller Motors in Staples.

She is survived by two sons, Ronald of Burnsville and Mark of Brooklyn Park; three grandsons; four great-grandsons; one sister, Ulrike Stadler and one nephew, Lutz Schmoele, of Germany; one sister-in-law, Nancy (Dale) Resch; nieces Peggy Hess Johnson and Kim Smythe; nephews, Patrick Quance, Tim Quance, Jeff Hess and Todd Hess. 

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one brother, Egon of Cologne, Germany and daughter-in-law, Patti.
