Frances Christensen

Frances Joy Christensen, 101, of Staples, passed away October 27, 2023. 

Services were held November 2 at the Motley United Methodist Church.

Franny Jo as she was affectionately called, was a cook for the original El-Ray Café in Motley (now BRICK’S). Franny had a phenomenal memory and a great mind for numbers (she was a banker’s daughter). Fran figured she had cooked 24,848 turkeys at the El-Ray Café in 18 years. She had the most beautiful cursive handwriting right up to her last days. Franny taught piano and played piano at the Motley United Methodist Church.

Frances is survived by two sons, Sherwood (Florence) Jordahl and Edward (Marsha) Jordahl; three daughters, Carole Oliger, Janet Greig and Judy (Lee) Jenkins; 11 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Irv; parents, Franklin and Harriett Freemire; one granddaughter; two sons-in-law; one brother and two sisters.

Arrangements were by the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Staples.
