Edward Jordahl
Edward Dale Jordahl, 82, of Motley, known to many as “Mr. Ed,” passed away peacefully July 18, 2026, in Fargo, North Dakota, surrounded by family.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, August 8, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Motley.
Following the service, family and friends are invited to gather for a Celebration of Life at the home of Shawn and Stephanie Jordahl to share memories and honor Ed’s remarkable life.
Ed was born January 31, 1944, in Manchester Township, Freeborn County. He graduated from Motley High School in 1962 where he met his wife of 59 years, Marsha Vick. He served his country in the Army Reserves for six years and was a dedicated entrepreneur and a cornerstone of his community. Ed spent over 30 years running several local businesses in Motley. Most notably, he was the proud owner and operator of Mr. Ed’s Restaurant for more than two decades, where he welcomed everyone with a warm smile and a sense of hospitality. In retirement, Ed enjoyed driving school bus and working part-time at Pine Ridge Golf Club. He was also a proud, longtime member of the local Lions Club and active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, dedicating his time to serving others.
Beyond his professional life, Ed found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved golfing, meticulously mowing his yard and helping neighbors by snowplowing in the winter. Above all, his greatest joy was spending quality time with his family and close friends. He leaves behind a legacy of love for his children and grandchildren and will be remembered for his selflessness and generosity.
His legacy of hard work, kindness and devotion will live on through his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marsha Jordahl; one daughter, Julie (Robert) Schmitt; one son, Shawn (Stephanie Hoefs) Jordahl; four cherished grandchildren, Nathan Schmitt, Jason Schmitt, Jaelyn Jordahl, and Jayde Jordahl; three sisters, Carole (Don) Oliger, Janet (Lee) Greig and Judy (Lee) Jenkins; one brother, Sherwood (Flo) Jordahl; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Irving and Frances Christensen and two brothers-in-law, Don Oliger and Lee Greig.
