David Larson
David Gerald Larson, 76, of Staples, passed away peacefully at his home on January 11, 2025 surrounded by his family.
Family and friends are invited to join in remembering and honoring Dave’s remarkable life. A celebration will be held at PickleStone “A gathering place for family and friends” on Saturday, May 31, 2025, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. with storytelling and sharing memories at 3 p.m. located at 46647 Red Oak Rd, Staples, MN 56479.
Dave was born July 9, 1948, to Gerald and Lorena Larson in Brainerd.
Dave met his beloved wife, Violet, in high school and together they raised their family in Brainerd. He had a lifelong career in construction, retiring from Nor-Son Construction after 30 years of dedicated service. In 2017, they moved to Staples to be closer to family. Dave’s passion for the outdoors was shown through his love of camping, hunting and fishing and then more hunting. After retirement, he enjoyed “supervising” family building projects. His family meant everything to him and he cherished every moment spent with them.
He is survived by his spouse, Violet (Soderlund) Larson of 56 years; two sons, Tom (Lonnie) Larson, Fergus Falls and Tim (JJ) Larson, Staples; five grandchildren, Kerri Holm, Kyle (Monica) Metz, Taylor (Nycole) Larson, Ryan Larson and Seth Larson; eight great-grandchildren, Isaiah Holm, Harper Jorud, Griffin Jorud, Jayden Diaz, Landyn Metz, Evelyn Larson, Camryn Larson and Sawyer Larson; one sister, Linda Knutson, Fergus Falls; one brother, Robert (Sandi) Larson, Moncks Corner, SC; one brother-in-law, Kent Johnson, Brainerd and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Connie Johnson.
