Adele Goblirsch

Adele A. (Soukup) Goblirsch, 94, of Sleepy Eye passed away September 13, 2018, at Sleepy Eye Medical Center. 

Visitation will be held Thurs., Sept. 20  from 4 to 7 p.m. and again on Friday from 7:30 until 10 a.m. at the Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Sleepy Eye, Friday, Sept. 21, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. with clergy Msgr. Eugene Lozinski officiating. 

Interment will be at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Sleepy Eye.

Arrangements are with Sturm Funeral Home. 

Adele, along with her fraternal twin sister, Cordella, was born February 1, 1924 at the family farmhouse in rural Sleepy Eye to Charles and Amelia (Ruffing) Soukup. Adele attended District #27 country school and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Sleepy Eye in 1942. After graduation Adele worked as a nanny in the community. She then went to work as a teller at the State Bank of Sleepy Eye. On April 21, 1956, she married Edwin W. Goblirsch at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. They purchased a farm in Albin Township and built a successful dairy, chicken and crop farming operation. They retired in 1988 and moved into Sleepy Eye. Adele was active at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, volunteered at the Next-Tu-Nu shop in Sleepy Eye, enjoyed traveling, reading the daily newspaper, jigsaw puzzles, sewing, creating latch hook rugs and embroidering 

She is survived by three daughters, Nancy (John) Wolf of New Prague, Joyce (Bill) Kuehn of Motley and Cindy (Keith) Scheid of Owatonna; one son, Dean (Stacy) Goblirsch of New Ulm; two sisters, Cordella Soukup and Joan Portner; brother-in-law, Fr. Robert Goblirsch; sister-in-law, Agnes Goblirsch all of Sleep Eye; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Thomas and one brother, Gregory.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Mary’s Catholic School.
