Klefsaas sets school pole vault record
Millie Klefsaas cleared 10 feet, 8 inches in the pole vault to set a Staples Motley school record at a meet at Wadena-Deer Creek on April 14. Klefsaas broke Kelsey Griffith’s 10’7”, set in 2003.
“I saw some great things in the pole vault, hurdles and distance events,” said Coach Marly Simmons. “Klefsaas, Ryan Trout and Max Giza all took advantage of the great weather to clear personal bests in the pole vault.
Trout also won the 3,200 meter race. “Ryan and Emmet Anderson pushed each other until Trout broke away down the final stretch,” said Simmons. “We have a couple of talented young distance runners in Emmet and Kira Sweeney, both are 7th graders.”
“Apart from some issues with handoffs in the relays, the team did quite well,” said Simmons
