Young love Harold 'Bud' Schultenover, a sergeant in the U.S. Army; and Gertrude Wild met and fell in love in Germany during WWII. They worked together for a year; and then exchanged letters before Gertrude was able to come to America. The Schultenovers were married at Sacred Heart Church in Staples in 1947.
