Lloyd Schumacher
Eleven-year resident of Staples, Lloyd James Schumacher, 92, passed away August 2, 2026.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 19, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Brenny Family Funeral Chapel in Staples.
Lloyd was born on July 9, 1934, to Helmar and Mary Schumacher of New Richland, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Richland, and he graduated from New Richland Public School in 1952. He married Marlys Sophy at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Richland and moved to Albert Lea and had a daughter Donna. He was divorced in 1968. He met and married Gloria Shelson on February 26, 1977, at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea.
Lloyd worked at Wilsons Foods for 31 years, retiring in 1983, then sold Insurance for American Republic, AAA, Wick and Osbeck Thesis. He was a member of the AFL-CIO for many years, a member of Oak View Golf Course of Freeborn County and made his hole in one at the Clarks Grove Golf Course. In his younger days he loved to ride motorcycles touring many states in the West.
In 2015 Lloyd and his wife, Gloria, moved to Lakewood Pines in Staples to be closer to his daughter, Donna (Schumacher) Shaw.
Lloyd was an outgoing soul who always had a smile and a joke for anyone he came across.
Lloyd is survived by one daughter, Donna (Dan) Shaw; two brothers, Marlow (Carole) and Paul (Nancy); one grandson, Adam (Jenny) Shaw; two great grandchildren, Hazel and Ivy Shaw; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his wife; parents; two brothers, Mickel and Richard; two sisters, Evelyn and Shirley and one stepson, Gerald Shelson.
