Jeanette Hardy

Jeanette Hazel Hardy (nee Nichols), 80, passed away peacefully March 11, 2025, at the Milaca Elim Meadows Health Care Center in Milaca.

A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, April 5, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca. 

Burial will take place at 4 p.m. at Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples.

Jeanette was born June 20, 1944, to Monroe and Beatrice Nichols in Grand Rapids. She grew up in Staples and was a 1962 graduate of Staples High School. She married Gary Hardy on December 8, 1962.

Jeanette was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, daughter and sister, whose love for her family knew no bounds. She loved nothing more than family gatherings, whether that was at the ballfield, racetrack, watching the Twins and Vikings, holidays, birthdays (that included her famous chocolate cake with white fluffy frosting), or simply sitting around the table playing cards.

Jeanette loved being around people and that was clear by the positions she held in her work life. She performed office work at Control Data, was a store clerk at Koch Hardware and assisted nurses with the residents at Milaca Elim Home. For many years, she worked in the Milaca High School Guidance office. She thoroughly appreciated the daily interactions with the multitude of students and staff over the years. Upon retirement from Milaca Public Schools, she enjoyed the people to whom she sold pull tabs in Milaca and Long Siding.

Jeanette is survived by her loving family, three children, one daughter, Brenda Pearson; two sons, Patrick (Tricia Lamm) Hardy and Eric (Jill) Hardy; four grandchildren, Braden, Treyton, Jaxsen and Abigail; one brother, James (Phyllis) Nichols and his family, as well as many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Richard Nichols.
