Doris Dumpprope

Doris Mary Dumpprope, age 88, of Motley, passed away November 19, 2023, at her home.

A memorial service was held November 25, at Faith Lutheran Church in Staples.

Doris was born May 19, 1935, to Glenn and Eleanor (Fasching) Anderson in Frazee. She married LeRoy Dumpprope on February 20, 1961. Dorie had many jobs in her lifetime, one of her first, was a telephone operator and an aide in the school district. With five kids at the time she decided to go back to college and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She was instrumental in starting an inclusion program for children with special needs. She touched many lives with her kindness, patience and understanding throughout her 25+ years of teaching.

Sports played a large role in her life as a coach, participant and as her kids and grandkids’ biggest fan. She started the first women’s softball and cross country teams for Staples High School. She and LeRoy enjoyed watching any Minnesota sports team, but her very favorite was her beloved Vikings whom she loved even when they let her down.

Dorie was active in the church and you could find her and Craig near the front pew every Sunday and her Faith Lutheran Family meant a lot to her. She also enjoyed reading, doing crossword and word search puzzles to “keep her mind sharp.” Her drop everything TV show was Wheel of Fortune and no matter how tired she was she always had enough energy to play cards or a board game. She’d sit at the table with a big smile, share stories and pop in with a witty joke.

She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, leaving behind a legacy of love and generosity.

Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband of 62 years, LeRoy; four sons, Timothy (Linda Busch) Dumpprope, Larry (Jackie) Dumpprope, Lonny (Cathi) Dumpprope, Craig Dumpprope; two daughters, Lorie Frandson and Glennda (Andrew Wiherski) Davis; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one brother, Joel (Cathe) Anderson and one sister, Glennda Kotula.

Doris is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Ronnie Anderson and Jeffrey Anderson; one son-in-law, Fred Frandson; one grandson, Shane Frandson and two brothers-in-law, Jerry Kotula and Bill Smith.

Arrangements were by Taylor Funeral Home, Staples.
