Political parties set caucus sites Mar. 1

Democrats and Republicans will gather at 7 p.m.,  Tuesday, Mar. 1 for their parties’ biennial caucuses. Registration opens at 6:30 p.m.

Those attending will vote in a presidential preference poll, debate resolutions that any caucus attendees may introduce for possible inclusion into their state platform, elect precinct chairs for the next two years and select delegates for the upcoming county conventions and district endorsing conventions.

Anyone who is eligible to vote in Minnesota by Nov. 8, 2016, is eligible to vote on resolutions, hold precinct office and be elected a delegate from their precinct. Anyone age 16 or over may participate in caucus business. 

The Wadena County DFL convention will be Sunday, April 3, in the Sebeka High School media center.

The Todd County GOP convention will be Saturday, Mar. 12, at the Browerville Community Center.

The dates and sites of the Wadena County GOP and the Todd County DFL were not determined at press time but will be available at the caucuses.

The state Senate District 9 endorsing conventions will be:

o DFL - Browerville, May 22

o GOP - tentatively set for April 2, site to be determined.

The Congressional District 7 endorsing conventions will be: 

o DFL - Moorhead, April 30.

o GOP - Alexandria, April 29-30.

The Congressional District 8 endorsing conventions will be: 

o DFL - Duluth, May 7-8

o GOP - information unavailable at press time.

The state conventions will be:

o DFL - Minneapolis, June 4.

o GOP - Duluth, May 20-21.

Wadena County-DFL

Wadena-Deer Creek High School commons for Wadena city Precincts 1, 2 and 3; Verndale, Staples and Aldrich cities; Wadena Township; Leaf River Township precincts 1 and 2; Wing River, Thomastown, Bullard and Aldrich townships.

Sebeka High School science rooms for Sebeka, Nimrod and Menahga cities; North Germany, Meadow, Rockwood, Red Eye, Lyons, Orton, Blueberry, Shell River and Huntersville townships.

Wadena County-GOP
