The Staples Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting their Chili Cook-Off as part of the Hometown Harvest event on Saturday, Oct. 3, with activities from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., and a movie in the park in the evening.

The event will take place at Northern Pacific Park in Staples, on 6th Street NE.

The event is for all ages, with food, kids activities and live music.

Hometown Harvest starts at 10 a.m. with childrens activities. At 11 a.m., magician Nick Sharpe will start the stage performances, to be followed by the Prairie Smoke band.

The Chili Cook-Off starts at noon, with multiple contestants sharing different chili samples. There are also more food trucks for people who don’t want chili, and a beer garden for adults.

A pumpkin patch will be set up in the lower part of the park for children to decorate pumpkins and take photos.

The evening event will be an outdoor Halloween movie in the park, hosted by the Staples Motley Women of Today, when it gets dark around 7:30.
