Homecoming royalty

Staples-Motley High School held its 2016 Homecoming Coronation Oct. 2, at Centennial Auditorium, crowning Millie Klefsaas and Gavin Smith this year’s Queen and King (at right). Tuesday night’s events were cancelled because of inclement weather, but they planned community visits Wednesday. Thursday will begin with a pep fest and include a picnic lunch on the football field and a powderpuff football tournament. The homecoming parade will begin at 2 p.m. Friday’s tailgate party begins at 6 p.m. followed by the homecoming game at 7 p.m. against Long Prairie-Grey Eagle. The Little Cardinal Cheereaders will perform at halftime. The homecoming dance will begin at 9:30 p.m. in the gym.
