MMFCU concludes ‘60 Days of Giving’
Hundreds of children around the area will have an opportunity to receive a new or gently used book thanks to members of the Mid-Minnesota Federal Credit Union.
In connection with its 60th Anniversary Celebration, the credit union coordinated a ‘60 Days of Giving’ fundraiser. Between May 1 and June 30, MMFCU collected books, visited classrooms and raised funds by selling ‘bookworms.’
Collection points were set up at each MMFCU branch location, and members responded by donating over one thousand new and gently used books. All of these books will be distributed to local charities, schools, daycares and libraries around the credit union’s service area.
In addition to collecting books, MMFCU also accepted monetary donations and, in turn, matched them dollar for dollar. Over $2,350 was collected and donated to help support the United Way Imagination Library program, as well as the Great River Regional Library in Staples.
The final piece of the campaign came by way of sending MMFCU staff out into the community to volunteer in schools, daycares and libraries. Through this endeavor, MMFCU employees reached nearly 700 children throughout its service area.
