Three injured in two-vehicle crash on Hwy 64, north of Motley

A Brooklyn Park man was airlifted to North Memorial Hospital Oct. 16, following a two-vehicle crash north of Motley along Hwy 64.

The incident occurred near mile marker six, at approximately 7:30 p.m.

According to the MN State Patrol, Benjamin Ameyan, 54, was southbound on Hwy 64, driving a 2005 Honda Accord. He was passing in a no-passing zone and struck a 2003 Toyota Tacoma driven by Michael Lyle, 52, of Laporte. Lyle was traveling north. 

Upon hitting the Toyota pickup truck, the Honda Accord left the roadway and struck a tree. The driver of the Honda, Ameyan, was airlifted to North Memorial Hospital with what is believed to be non-life threatening injuries. His passenger, 18-year-old Michael Tieku of Brooklyn Park sustained non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the pickup, Lyle, was transported to Lakewood Health System Hospital in Staples where he was treated for minor injuries.

Assisting at the scene was the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
