Science program on fire

Chuck Deeter from Headwaters Science Center in Bemidji gave a presentation on fire at the Motley-Staples Middle School Dec. 15. The program was sponsored by the Friends of the Staples Public Library. Pictured above, sixth-grader Dakota Henniger watched as Deeter sets fire to a dollar bill the student loaned him. Because the dollar bill had been soaked in liquid that was 70 percent alcohol and 30 percent water, it was not burned.
