Fran Mertens of the Staples Food Shelf, left, accepts checks that total $888 from Rita Stone of the Congregational Church in Staples. The money was raised at the penny auction put on by the church during Railroad Days. A similar donation will be given to the Motley Food Shelf. (Staples World photo by Mark Anderson)
