Robert Sorenson
Robert (Bob) Dean Sorenson, 71, of Staples, passed away April 14, 2025 at his home.
A memorial service was held April 19 at the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel in Baxter.
Bob was born August 29, 1953, to S. Wayne and DeEtta (Reipke) Sorenson in Wadena. He graduated from Staples High School in 1971 and went on to earn a degree in machine tool rebuilding from Staples Technical College in 1973. On September 22, of that same year, he married the love of his life, Cindy White later expanding their family with daughter, Amanda and son, Brent.
Bob began working at an early age alongside his mother and father in the family agricultural business, eventually taking over operations and running it until his retirement in 2002. He later joined a former classmate at Ferrellgas, where he continued to work until retiring again in 2019. Known for his warm, outgoing personality, Bob often said he could “talk to anyone” and he did. He had a lifelong passion for racing, all things automotive and took pride in keeping everything polished and meticulously waxed - from snowmobile races on his Arctic Cat, to drag racing his beloved car, Boogie Fever or wrenching on his 1972 Chevelle. He was often spotted riding his bike to work or cruising the “big loop.” Bob’s legacy of kindness, work ethic and gift for connecting with others will be remembered by all who knew him.
Bob is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Cindy; one daughter, Amanda (Baron Hinkel) and one son, Brent; favorite granddaughter, Emma Holsen; one brother, Ron Sorenson (Andy Campeau); one sister, Jane (Mike) Ringler; three sisters-in-law, Suzanne Fuller, Lori (Brad) Schmidt and Darcee (Tim) Bell.
He was preceded in death by his parents and mother- and father-in-law.
Arrangements were by Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Staples.
