Phyllis Sellnow
Phyllis Sellnow, 91, Staples, formerly of Bertha, died peacefully with family present in her home at the Lakewood Manor, Staples, on October 28, 2021, with gentle care provided by Lakewood System Hospice Care.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, November 5, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Bartlett Township, with Pastor Robin Fish presiding. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service.
Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Bartlett Township, Todd County.
Phyllis was born April 6, 1930, to James and Katherine Johnston in Bertha. She graduated from the Bertha High School in 1948 and was united in marriage with Fred Sellnow on September 17, 1950. They resided in Hewitt on the Sellnow family farm and raised four children, Sandra, Bradley, Bruce and James. Throughout Phyllis’ life she was a homemaker, actively involved in the dairy farm business, worked at Ringer Manufacturing in Staples and later in life worked for the U.S. Census.
Upon retiring from the dairy industry, Phyllis and Fred moved to Bertha, spending winters in Edinberg, TX. She was a proud member of the Bartlett Lutheran Church, where she was very active in the ladies aide and Bible studies. She was also very active with the Hewitt Lioness Club and Todd County Homemakers. Her greatest enjoyment came from her family, playing cards and conversing with friends.
Phyllis was very proud to have lived in Todd County, MN for all of her 91 years, and was also extremely proud that her grandfather served Todd County as a State Senator for over 30 years.
She is survived by two sons, Bradley (Leanne) Sellnow of Riverton, WY and Bruce (Rebecca) Sellnow of Cheyenne, WY; one son-in-law, James Arildsen of Hewitt; six grandchildren, Mark, Kelly, Christopher (Tess), Shawn (Bridget), Ross (Cassey), Sarah (Shawn); and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 60 years, Fred; one son, James and one daughter, Sandra.
