LaVerne Dahlvang

LaVerne Dahlvang, 76, of rural Staples, passed away February 8, 2023, at the hospital in St. Cloud.

LaVerne was born to Clayton and Betty (Peterson) Dahlvang on July 13, 1946, at the farm of Lawrence Peterson, Jr. (his maternal grandparents) in Aldrich Township, Wadena County. He attended country school through the sixth grade and Verndale High School through 11th grade. As a senior, he transferred to Staples Vocational School and studied to become a machinist, graduating in 1964.  He moved to the Twin Cities in 1965, where he found work as a machinist. LaVerne married Martha Marie Boelz on February 11, 1966, in Burnsville. By 1969, they bought the Perry Dahlvang (LaVerne’s grandfather) farm and within a couple of years was farming full-time until about 2013. 

Memories of LaVerne will remain with his loving wife of nearly 57 years, Martha, of Staples; sons, Dean (Donna) Dahlvang of Wrenshall and Daniel (Shannon) Dahlvang of Fargo, ND; three grandchildren, Drew, Hannah (Mark) and Connor; three great-grandchildren; one brother, LeRoy (Carol) Dahlvang of Verndale.
