Darlene Smith

Darlene M. Smith, 84, of Staples, passed away April 19, 2022, at the Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 20 at 3 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Staples with Pastor Chris Mathiason officiating. Visition will be held one hour prior to services at the church.

Interment will be held at the St. James Cemetery, Philbrook.

Darlene was born December 24, 1937 to Jacob and Erma (Trana) Fellman in Staples. She married Eugene Smith August 28, 1969 in Sisseton, SD. Darlene worked at Carter-Ringer in Staples, followed by a career as a beautician and owner/operator of Mane Things Hair Salon in Staples. She enjoyed crafting, fishing with her husband and shopping. In later years, she and Gene enjoyed spending winters in Corpus Christi, TX.

She is survived by three sons, Scott (Shari) Iverson of Blaine, Mike (Dena) Iverson of Staples and Bryan Smith, Wahpeton, ND; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gene; and one infant brother, Jerry Fellman.
