Dale Resch
Dale Martin Resch, 89, of Staples, passed away peacefully January 17, 2025 at his home.
Mass of Christian Burial was held January 24 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples.
Interment was at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls.
Dale was born December 8, 1935, to John and Mary (Tinkham) Resch in Villard Township, Todd County. He attended Sacred Heart Grade School and graduated from Staples High School in 1954.
Dale proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from August 1954 to July 1958 and later in the Navy Reserve until 1962, achieving the rank of MR2.
In June 1956, Dale married Adele Rosalie Gatzke and they had two daughters, Deborah Marie and Kathleen Adele. He later married JoEllen Springer in November 1972 and on November 27, 1998, he married Nancy Ann Hess, who remained his devoted partner until his passing.
Dale is deeply missed by his loving wife, Nancy; two daughters, Deborah (Dennis) McGlashan and Kathleen Resch; six grandchildren Angela, Christopher, Adam, Cynthia, Catalina, and Christina; 13 great-grandchildren; Nancy’s children, Jeff Hess, Todd Hess, Peggy (David) Hess and Kim (Keith) Smythe; as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and six siblings, Jack, Clarence, Gene, Jerome, Genevieve and Anton.
Dale loved spending summers at the family lake home and winters golfing in Arizona. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, golf, bowling, playing cards and deer hunting. He was an active member of the community, belonging to the Knights of Columbus (where he was a former Grand Knight), the Kentucky Colonels, the Lions Club, Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Motley American Legion Post 124.
Dale will be remembered for his fun-loving personality and the joy he brought to all who knew him.
Memorials are preferred to the Shriners or St. Judes.
