Betty Jo Nichols

Betty Jo Nichols, 76, of Staples, passed away Thursday, July 18, 2024 at the Lakewood Health System Care Center in Staples.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, July 26 at the Taylor Funeral Home in Staples. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Friday, July 26 at the Taylor Funeral Home in Staples 

Betty Jo was born March 29, 1948 to Jack and Rayma Thorn in Staples. Betty lived in Alaska and California throughout her life. She resided in Staples for many years. 

Waitressing was her passion and she was the best waitress you’d ever met. She focused most of her time on her two wonderful children and making beautiful memories with her only grandchild. 

Anyone who knew Betty knew she was kind hearted and was great company. She had hobbies and passions including a Betty Boop collection. She dedicated a room to her collection having many Boop memorabilia and personalized Betty Jo Boop items. Betty Jo could make the world’s best buns. You could not leave her house without a package of buns in your hands. When she wasn’t in the kitchen, she loved to knit, especially slippers. Every birthday or Christmas you’d know at least one of your gifts - specialized slippers, just for you. Betty Jo always made you feel welcome. 

Greatly loved, she will be remembered by one son, Kenneth (Rosi) Johnson and one daughter, Denise (Chance) Stoecker; one  granddaughter, Tesla Anderson; one sister, Joy Agnew and one brother, Tom (Sandra) Thorn and by many more family and friends.

Preceding Betty Jo in death were her parents; one sister, Cheri Belling; one nephew, Ryan Thorn and one brother-in-law, Bill Agnew. 

Arrangements are by the Taylor Funeral Home, Staples.
