Preschool at Sacred Heart Area School
Sacred Heart Area School Principal Jim Opelia says, “Preschool has become more popular in the Staples and Motley communities each year,” which was evidenced, he went on, by their need to expand by one classroom this past fall.
Opelia noted that, as mandated by the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS), SHAS maintains a ten- to- one child/adult ratio. “From the start, children are taught Christian family values, creating a foundation of faith, morals, selfdiscipline and knowledge to live a happy successful life,” he said.
There are a number of enrollment options available, including full time and part time. All day hours (7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.) are available as well.
Preschool children at SHAS interact with other students during lunch, recess and buddy reading time. They are also involved in community service projects including food drives for the food shelf and Christmas packages for soldiers.
