Luella Pankratz
Luella Viola Pankratz, 89, of Staples, died Aug. 17, 2010, at the at the Lakewood Health System Hospital in Staples. Funeral services were held Aug. 21, at the Staples Assembly of God Church, with Pastors Roy Miles and Amos Self officiating. Burial was in the Germania Moran Cemetery in rural Bertha. Arrangements were with the Johnson Memorial Home in Wadena. Luella was born April 8, 1921 to Harm and Anna (Harms) Korfe, in Corona, S.D. She married Leonard A. Pankratz on April 28, 1939, at the Gospel Tabernacle in Delton Township near Mountain Lake. She was a member of the Verndale Assembly of God, Women’s Ministries and Gideon’s Auxiliary. She worked as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant (CNA) for 22 years and as an Activities Aid for eight years at Lakewood Health System Care Center. She loved music, the people she worked with and had a gift for telling a good joke. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents; two brothers, Raymond; Wesley Korfe; four sisters, Margaret Junker; Theresa Riffle; Anna Russell,; Sylvia Selvey; and one son-in-law, Ken McGrane.
Pallbearers were Van, Jay, Ira and Darin Pankratz, Kevin McGrane and Wendell Mills.
Honorary pallbearers were Luella’s 31 greatgrandchildren.
