William Francis “Bill” Etzler, 98, Rapid City, S. D. died July 20, 2010, at Golden Living Center Prairie Hills, S.D.

Funeral services were held July 26, 2010 at Behrens Wilson Funeral Home with Fr. Bill Zandri officiating. Burial followed at Pine Lawn Memorial Park.

Arrangements were with the Behrens-Wilson Funeral Home in Rapid City.

Bill was born July 25, 1911 in Stroll, S.D. to Mike and Mary (Michalec) Etzler. When he was six weeks old his family moved to Lincoln, where they farmed. He married Margaret “Kitty” Meeds on Dec. 28, 1936 in Motley. They farmed until moving to Rapid City in 1946.

He worked for C.H. Lien for many years and for the Pennington County Highway Department for 22 years before retiring in 1976. He enjoyed the flea markets and rummage sales.

Bill is survived by two daughters, Marjorie Berman, Green Valley, Ariz.; Leitha (John) Kammerer, Rapid City; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great greatgranddaughter and one sister, Delores Rice, Elk Grove, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his wife, one daughter, Georgia Opitz; and four sisters.
