Evelyn Christopherson

Evelyn M. Christopherson, 82, of Staples, died Aug. 16, 2010 at Tri-County Health Care in Wadena.

Funeral services are Friday, Aug. 20, at 10 a.m., at the Staples Alliance Church. Visitation is Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples and one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be at the Thomastown Cemetery.

Arrangements are with the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples.

Evelyn was born May 21, 1928, in Thomastown Township, to Adolph and Matilda (Larson) Edin. She grew up in the area and attended school there. After completing two years of teacher training, Evelyn taught at the Nimrod School for a few years.

She married Lewis Christopherson on Aug. 5, 1950, at the Thomastown Covenant Church. After teaching, she stayed home to raise her children and help Lewis on the farm. Evelyn was very active in her church, teaching Sunday School at the Thomastown and Alliance churches, playing piano for the Thomastown Church and held many positions in the women’s groups. She raised chickens to sell the eggs. Evelyn loved to garden, bake, sew, quilt, puzzles and playing board games with her family.

Evelyn is survived by three sons, Alan (Roxie Bartell); Kent (Deb Toedter); Curt (Pam Anderson); one daughter, Beth (Art) Bergquist; 14 grandchildren; 10 greatgrandchildren; one brother, Kenneth (Thelma) Edin, two sisters, Margery (Jack) Eyres; Patricia (Gaylord) Fries; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
